Justin Coyne, Head Instructor
Justin grew up sailing out of Yale Corinthian Yacht Club on the Long Island Sound. He has team and fleet racing experience in a number of one design dinghies. The highlight of his racing career was qualifying for and competing in the High School Double Handed National Championship in 2002. As a USSA Level 2 instructor, he’s taught first-timers and nationally competitive racers at a number of yacht clubs in Connecticut and Martha’s Vineyard. Having just finished his doctorate in English at the University of Rochester, Justin is excited to get out of the library and onto the water with us this summer.
After 7 years of being involved in the program as a junior sailor, I grew from a young child who knew nothing about sailing, to an avid sailor and racer. Seneca Sailing Academy nurtured the deep love of sailing I have today and provided me many everlasting memories. Now as an instructor I cannot wait to develop the next generation of sailors and help them create many of the everlasting memories I was given.
Throughout my entire life, the junior sailing program has inspired me to sail and to be the best that I can be. I grew up sailing, racing, and enjoying the sport. My favorite memories from my past have always been when I was sailing, or with the people that I sail with. Now, being an accomplished racer and sailor, I am beyond excited to inspire others to learn how to sail, and to love sailing. In addition I want to help others make lasting friendships and memories, and this will truly be an honor for me to do.
